Questions and Answers

How is coaching different from traditional counseling?
Coaching is about achievement and helps healthy individuals move from a functional state to an optimal state. Coaching helps the client to focus on their talents, skills and strengths. It looks into the future to see where the person wants to go and encourages the client to consistently take effective action to reach both personal and professional goals. Therapy is typically considered a healing modality and is designed to help an individual move from a dysfunctional state to a functional state.  It often focuses on the client's past problems or issues and helps to resolve those issues in beneficial ways.

What does the coaching process look like?
We have three scheduled coaching calls per month. These sessions last for 40-45 minutes. In between the sessions we may have brief (5-10 minute) phone calls and unlimited e-mail communications.

What do we talk about?
Coaching is a client-directed process, so we talk about what you most want to talk about. You may start off by discussing your desire to change careers and in the coaching dialogue, we may end up addressing your financial goals, your personal values, your family relationships and your spirituality. My clients are comfortable sharing many aspects of their lives with me. I take a holistic approach to coaching.

How much time will this require of me outside of our scheduled calls?
That depends on how much you want to invest in the process. Every client is different. I will ask you a lot of questions and challenge you to look at your beliefs, habits and patterns. I will make requests of you and ask you to complete tasks in between sessions that are designed to help you reach your goals.

What kind of changes will I see?
Depending on your goals, some of the changes you will likely see include eliminating problems, becoming clearer on what you want, improved relationships, a healthier lifestyle and an increased sense of peace and well-being.

Is this confidential?
Yes. I will not disclose the nature of our coaching calls unless you give me your permission. I will coach you with care, clarity and integrity to the best of my ability. We mutually enter into the coaching relationship. If at any time, either of us decides to discontinue the coaching relationship, we will communicate directly with each other.

Where is your office located?
I have a home office and conduct most of my coaching sessions by phone. I live on a beautiful mountaintop in Asheville, NC.

Do you ever meet with people in person?
Yes. I facilitate team coaching sessions for small groups and meet them at their office location. I also conduct workshops in Western North Carolina and am available to travel. For personal coaching clients, I'm happy to arrange an occasional in-person meeting. But I do have clients around the country that I've never met in person.

What are your fees?
Personal coaching fees and team coaching session fees vary according to the time commitment, content involved and the needs of the client. Personal coaching fees range between $325-$500 per month.

What makes you a good coach?
My two greatest strengths are excellent listening skills and the ability to ask pointed and insightful questions. My clients describe me as caring, compassionate, motivating, inspiring and dynamic. Learn more about me by clicking here……(
